Fully automatic!
( Yes I realize they’re taking a shot at VW)

Because it sounds faster than “buttoning” to 60

Yeah, that’s poor. It’s hard to find a US-market car slower than 12 seconds (other places are a different story). Cars are a lot faster than they used to be.

For comparison a ‘69 Boss 302 did it in about 7 seconds.

Might be just as fast as the D100

I’m gonna say, for model year 2019, the list of fully certified US-market cars that can’t do 0-60 in 12 seconds consists of:
Mitsubishi Mirage G4: 12.8 seconds (manual, C&D)
That’s the entire list. Motor Trend got a Mirage G4 CVT to 60 in 12.0, and the Mirage hatchbacks are faster yet.

That is fast for an economy car at the time. A 71 Vega took 16 seconds. A 74 Hornet took 17. A Beetle was around 24-28 seconds 0-60. https://www.zeroto60times.com/body-style/classic/
